A New Look for Lao Food Foundation
Kone Vilakone is based in Laos and created a new logo for the Lao Food Foundation. We sat down with Kone to learn more about his inspiration. Read the interview below!
Q: Tell us about what you do!
I have been working in the creative field such as a graphic designer for online and offline, on ground communications, creative consultant for brand strategies for Lao SMEs and NGOs, and an art director for short films such as documentaries.
Q: We love our new logo. Would you tell us about how you went about designing it? What was your inspiration?
I was introduced by a good friend of mine, Greg from the U.S Embassy in Laos, he asked if I was interested in designing for Lao Food Foundation based in Washington D.C. Later I was in contact with Channapha, the founder, we basically share a common interest and passion in Lao food and culture.
My inspiration is Lao food itself, also my curiosities about who we really are as Lao, our art and culture, and where we are heading for the future.
Q: What do you love about Lao food? What is your favorite dish?
Its taste of course, its smell and later its own nature by providing some qualities such as low-fat and herbal based comforting your health.
My favorite dishes are as follows:
-Sticky rice with papaya salad
-Kai pan (River weeds)
-Chicken grilled with hot padaek paste
-Jeow (mak keau, jeow mangda, jeow bong, jeow hed)
-Bamboo soup
-Kao piek (Rice noodle)
